architecture. art. travel.

Hi, my name is Kate Mazade, and I am a writer, editor, designer and artist, exploring the connections between architecture and community. I published my first book, Dearest Babe, Letters from a World War II Flight Surgeon, co-authored with Kelly Farris Mazade in 2022, and served as the developmental editor for Designed for Habitat: New Directions for Habitat for Humanity, written by David Hinson and Justin Miller and published by Rutledge in 2023.

I hold a Bachelor of Architecture from Auburn University and a masters degree from the Goldring Arts Journalism program at Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. My passion for people-centered projects has prompted travels through North America, Europe, Africa and Asia that have helped me understand how geography, climate and culture influence architecture.

My work has been featured in Architectural Record, American Theatre, Madame Architect, Dezeen, Metropolis Magazine, The Architect’s Newspaper, AN Interior, the Syracuse Post-Standard, and the Charleston Post and Courier.
